this project is nearing it’s end, i wonder what she intends to do with it when it’s complete…

i have finally added several new projects from the second half of this year to ‘me work’, all reactions and feedback are welcome…

my new poster series for the ‘Het Muziektheater Amsterdam’ – Amsterdam Music Theater, based on an identity (and custom font) designed last year by local design agency ‘koeweiden postma’. I was asked to make a new campaign style using the existing elements (a tough gig this one) and i chose to go for maximum impact and strong branding, which i felt they needed. Mainly accentuating the two identity colours (red & black) and cleaning up the hierarchy of the typography and information. The two main topics are ballet and opera productions. I will also be developing and implementing other various media types for them in the coming year.

shown below are some of the initial sketch designs used to explain the idea…

last sunday i attended the presentation of the ‘dutch theater poster awards 2010’ for which i was a jury member (the only graphic designer of the four members), the winner was comedian ‘theo maassen’ for his poster ‘zonder pardon’ several of the other nominees expressed anger at the decision to me afterwards, whereas others thought it was the right choice, again i was not the only jury member and i still stand behind our decision
more info (and a copy of the jury report) here, or here and another viewpoint (in dutch) here, the presentation by legendary theater maker and choreographer ‘robert wilson’ was also amazing and inspiring…
