html5 pop-up trickery

interesting experiment from the google sandbox to demonstrate the possibilities of HTML5 and CSS3: an interactive (online) pop-up book, a bit ugly to look at but the technique certainly seems to offer possibilities (via ‘sanne wijbenga’)

the foreign legion

…today can be better than yesterday…
according to foreign legion: a group of idealistic students who wish to make the world a better place by working for free, at least without the restraints of commercial and economic factors, sounds familiar… at least i know a few clients who would be interested in free work that’s for sure…

mobile poster

one from the archives today: a poster for an exhibition (from 7 years ago) about all kinds of mobile phone art, yes we did steal the ‘playmobil’ logo and no they didn’t sue us…

the poster featured a ‘shotcode’ which was probably one of the first posters to do so, and last… the technology which was a forerunner to QR codes didn’t quite make it, as QR codes also haven’t of course…

I recently came across three online projects, each mapping certain aspects of the city I call home, in its own specific way: Designer Hans Gremmens’ wonderful Amsterdamdam which collates the turbulent history of the ‘Dam’ into an intriguing visual story. A real-time map of the decibel levels (‘geluidsnet’) created by Schiphol Airport. Usually worst when we have strong winds at this time of year (forcing planes to travel straight over the city centre). And finally a project documenting lost or forgotten street names; which badly needs input if you happen to know of any…
