spanish poster designer ‘isidro ferrer’ was first brought to my attention after reading an interview in the latest issue of the excellent new design magazine ‘elephant’

he uses a mix of photography, illustration and found elements to very striking and often humorous effect

he appears to be quite reclusive and doesn’t really have an internet site where all of his work can be seen together, so i’ve indulged myself here and posted a large number of his beautiful posters, see below for some of the links i did manage to find…

here are a few links i found about him online

why pad?

i picked up an ipad in the UK last week, largely because i want to get my daughter started early on a medium that will probably be an integral part of her life, it’s great fun to see her trying it out and intuitively discovering what works or doesn’t… the good news is that ‘me studio’ is ipad ready: a ‘two finger’ click in vertical mode fills the browser screen perfectly…

i am also trying out some of the few apps already available, like flipboard, could this be the future? i’ll leave the answer to my daughter…

kieler woche

…every year, in the last week of June, more than three million people from 70 countries visit the biggest summer festival in northern Europe. Over ten days, Kiel puts its best foot forward with a unique mix of cultural, musical, political and social highlights…

interesting archive of all of the posters for the ‘kieler woche’ event since 1948, showing a chronological history of some of the predominant (typo)graphic styles from then to the present… from graphic/geometric and understated to the over-indulgent
