the current revival of nationalism in europe and the tendency to reassess our own identity has been one factor in the decision to publish the two latest editions of our ‘dingen’ children’s book series, which are currently being made
‘dutch things’ again a bilingual set for this one… and a wry look at what it is exactly that makes the dutch ‘dutch’… or not, more news soon, both are due to be released later this year
some smart space-saving solutions for bookshelves over at dornob, that staircase/bookcase is just genius…. one day i intend to steal that idea

these large neon letters (avenir) arrived back from a client this week… the remains of one of the largest jobs ‘me studio’ has done so far (that never happened) a corporate identity for a dutch bank, it’s quite unique for such a small studio to land a project like this so it is a shame it never made the light of day
the new identity (which was all ready to launch in early 2009) fell prey to the economic crisis and despite all of the work (from logo, to letterhead, to signage, to vehicle livery, to interiors and even their information design…) these are all that is left of the project sadly… i’m not even allowed to show the finished work, we did a lot of research to get the intended corporate colour (dark purple) working as a neon sign at night, dark colours are by their nature of course not very bright… if anyone ever needs advice on neon signs and what works ask me… we’re your man
some more string typography but from someone else this time: design and purpose, although it does seem a bit at odds with the rest of their portfolio work in terms of style… and 85 quid for a print?! wow… maybe i should start selling my stuff too…
we have a really nice mix of projects ongoing at the studio this month, a few identity jobs, some nice poster stuff and several interesting new projects on the horizon, check back soon for more work…
