new york photographer ‘bob egan’ has put quite some research into tracing the location of some celebrated album art

have a look at his pop spots series… nice, let’s hope this idea gets expanded to more locations and different eras too…

just completed before the sum[me]r break today:
a rather special new production from the underground activists known as the belarus free theater who will be performing a world première of their latest creation ‘trash cuisine’, tackling the issues of capital punishment, early october in amsterdam…

posters with different text dates plus a flyer, all made with small dinner plates and a bloody mess of handwritten words, the dates needed to be shown together on the flyer and separately on the posters, a problem which i eventually solved by piling the two plates on top of each other for the flyer image…

looking forward to seeing them hanging around town, soon after we get back
…a game of trial and error, delicately balancing the right artificial environment with the correct amount of rising smoke. Any slight wind changes in the studio or on the surface would knock the vortex and stop it from forming. We managed to create twenty tornadoes, each around 4ft in height all with their own personalities and weight…

…the delicate nature of our creations was a big juxtaposition in many ways between natures own, but being able to create one and see it up close, regardless of its size and power was mesmerising…
photographer ryan hopkinson created his own series of colourful tornadoes in a studio…

two new posters for the ‘sugar factory’ just completed this week: a fluffy line-up poster made with bits of old felt

and one for the upcoming ‘ADE’ dance event in amsterdam, restrictions were using their black / yellow identity colours plus a series bright primary rainbow colours for the type, a tough brief…

i chose to make the type mostly black and use the colours as part of the backdrop instead; to ‘calm the chaos down’ a bit, i think it helped… it’s nice to be making the ‘sugar’ poster series grow, diversify and the idea behind the new identity starting to work as i intended
