sacrifice

…what’s more important, success or money?
Well it’s naïve to separate the two things, in my humble opinion. Working for yourself is obviously a way to keep costs down, and a way to stay completely in control of your destiny, but if you want to do projects of any scale, you need a studio, designers, a colour printer… That means that every year you need to pay salaries, pay the gas man and ideally have a bit left over for a few bonuses, the odd new computer and a decent xmas lunch. The trick is how to achieve this whilst doing rewarding work…

michael johnson spills the beans in an interview for the recently relaunched ‘grafik’ mag on how to become incredibly rich as a graphic designer, or possibly not…

‘free snowboard’ offer extended

some silliness for the weekend from that sarcastic australian graphic designer ‘david thorne’

…Contrary to popular belief, there is not a lot of snow in Australia and I recently discovered two facts;
1. Snow is cold and;
2. Coming from a climate where the coldest winter demands only complaining slightly less about how hot it is, I am ill-equipped for fact 1.

slash art

is an initiative by a group of local art students, which aims to fuel the debate around the recent draconian cuts to the arts & culture funding in the netherlands

their latest project involves the large official collective billboards which are used here during local and national elections, they are subject to strict rules and provide fixed space for all of the contending political parties to state their case, ‘slash art’ has opened a free-for-all competition inviting the general public to customise (or vandalise) them in their own way… nice, why not have a go? democracy is a privilege we need to cherish
