amsterdam in documents

this beautiful thick book arrived in the studio this week: ‘amsterdam in stukken’ made by the world as flatland, the accompanying website shows a few representative spreads but also hints at the almost online-like apprearance of the whole structure

it contains a vast amount of data and varying media & formats but the layered/interactive design approach actually works very well to guide you through the mass of data it contains, very original; worth getting hold of a copy to see for yourself…

plug the plug

funny… i wrote about it back in 2009 and it now appears that somebody did actually take this smart idea by young student ‘min-kyu choi’ seriously and actually produce it

entr’acte

…entr’acte (1924) is René Clair’s Dada-influenced 20-minute short, commissioned for the interval of Francis Picabia’s new ballet, Relâche, in Paris in 1924. The original music for the film was composed by the famous composer Erik Satie, who makes a cameo appearance along side surrealist photographer Man Ray… (link via philosopher, poet & friend ‘jean louis denis’)

ministry of ballet

last friday i paid a visit to the huge office building in the hague of the ‘oc&w’ ministry (education, culture and sciences) where i was given a guided tour of their homebase and in particular the (permanent & temporary) art collection spread around the large numbers of offices and division within the ministry

they have acquired a number of our ballet posters for the collection and it was great to see them ‘in situ’ and hear some of the reactions from the people who look at them everyday
