the stone twins have devised a postage stamp with a story for the irish post office, nice…
according to the press release: The Irish post office, An Post, has just launched a special stamp that features a complete short story. The stamp, by Amsterdam-based The Stone Twins, celebrates the recognition of Dublin as a UNESCO City of Literature. The design solution is quite unorthodox and avoids the usual visual clichés – such as images or quotes from the giants of Irish literature (Joyce, Beckett, Yeats and Wilde). The Stone Twins instigated a competition, in collaboration with Roddy Doyle’s ‘Fighting Words’ creative writing centre, that invited young people to write a story. The winning entry is by teenager Eoin Moore, and seeks to capture the essence of Dublin. The refined typographic solution is printed on fluorescent yellow.

firstly the artist john langdon and secondly mister scott kim, both sites (although quite ugly and outdated) are a pretty good source of information and inspiration on the subject of ambigrams and inversion type

the whitney goes jetset

a new identity for the new york whitney museum made by experimental jetset (with implementation being done by a in-house design team) two projects spring to mind immediately for me: the old ‘stedelijk museum cs’ identity (also by jetset) and the recent ‘stedelijk museum’ identity from mevis & van deursen
