note: the post frequency on the ‘me blog’ has taken a nosedive this week (plus my entries to ‘fontanel’) due to a seriously heavy workload, so apologies to the daily visitors, it may be a bit quieter than usual in the coming days for the same reason… meanwhile here’s an interesting new book: supergraphics from quality design publishers ‘unit’ in london

These designers distorted perspective with stripes and arrows, emphasized wayfinding and movement sequences with surface designs, joined community groups to paint illustrative graphics over blighted buildings, and played with scale by using billboarding tactics…

the toilet people

this article provides a pretty good illustration of the sense or nonsense of graphic design: a typology of toilet signs, i’m surprised i haven’t come across this as a subject for study before, it is a fascinating and incredibly diverse area of styles and ideologies… (via ‘move your teeth’ blog)

interface fun

editor’s note: i’m posting this for the interesting technique and the relevance of the subject matter not because i think we should hero-worship ‘steve jobs’: an illustration built entirely with OSX ‘aqua bubbles’ by interface artist johannes osterhoff

i also really like his ‘billy’ an ipad app with a difference… another interface maker with some stunning work is this fella ’emilio gomariz’ check out these animated gifs, very nice…
