a question photographer ‘david liittschwager’ decided to answer when he set off around the world documenting living organisms within a single cubic foot of space all over the planet, nice idea… see also here and here for further reading

mapping the city

interesting online project which aims to provide an overview of old & forgotten historical street names of amsterdam, the map can be modified, corrected and added to by visitors

in a similar vein i recently discovered this real-time map of the local airplane decibels, which are often quite high in times of high wind such as the month of october/november
