the premsela design institute has just announced a new director to replace the man with a rather extravagant taste in knitted sweaters: ‘dingeman kuilman’, he will be followed up in january 2011 by ‘els van der plas’ currently director of the ‘prins claus fund’ and a client of mine… i wish them both good luck, now and then
look pretty ugly when seen all at once…
here’s an interesting archive of the complete set of designs submitted for the euro banknotes dating back to the original design competition in 1995-96, including the winning entries plus a rather glum conclusion on my behalf that none of them were actually very exciting anyway… (thanks to ‘michiel schuurman’ for the tip via FB)
two books featuring my work have just been released this week: ‘selected A – graphic design from europe’ from index books and ‘los logos – compass’ from gestalten publishers, i have yet to see/receive both books myself…
armand mevis in discussion with design.nl about their temporary stedelijk museum identity and posters (which i posted last week)
…mevis is adamant, however, that being asked to work on this project has absolutely nothing to do with the controversy surrounding the Stedelijk’s graphic identity “This is simply a project,” he says. “We were never approached to create the identity of the whole museum. People seem to think that, but it is not true. We were told from the start that this was just for the temporary opening and was not a commission to do anything for the future.”…
it seems to have become a highly controversial subject the new ‘stedelijk’ identity, although there are worse choices for the job than ‘mevis & van deursen’ or even ‘experimental jetset’ who made their previous temporary identity in the old ‘Post CS’ building, we shall see who finally gets the commission
