i just came across these beautiful manipulated images by john stezaker, whose work (according to the saatchi gallery blurb):

…re-examines the various relationships to the photographic image: as documentation of truth, purveyor of memory, and symbol of modern culture. In his collages, Stezaker appropriates images found in books, magazines, and postcards and uses them as ‘readymades’. Through his elegant juxtapositions, Stezaker adopts the content and contexts of the original images to convey his own witty and poignant meanings…

life in a day

i’m late with this one, so apologies if you’ve already seen it everywhere else, but i still felt t worth a post… an incredible, yet simple idea: directors kevin macdonald & ridley scott asked people all over the world to film a day in their own life, in fact all on the very same day: the 24th of july 2010, a staggering 80,000 people did just that and the resulting film life in a day has already premiered a few weeks ago on you tube, the cinema release follows shortly, i’ve not seen it but cannot help but feel that it must be amazing, by sheer volume and the audacity of the idea alone…
