…from it’s very beginning (the construction period in the late 60s) until September 2001 the World Trade Center had a great appeal on tourists and visitors of New York City as only a few architectures do in metropolises: who ever has been there, had a picture taken of him-, her- or themselves in front of, on top of or inside this building. This kind of fascination based on cultural projections is what this blog wants to capture…

an online databse of personal memories and stories from the now defunct twin towers in NYC, the idea is to share the stories and images without trying to make any particular statement about 9/11, nice… (link via photographer ‘paul scott’)

a minor fashion statement

i was approached last week to do a small interview for dutch newspaper ‘het parool’ for their ‘street style’ column on the subject of fashion (ha ha)… the final result and the photo weren’t (too) embarassing, luckily, although i somehow managed to get on the subject of wearing underwear outdoors…

it was published yesterday and the image was shot by young talent ‘robin de puy’, i’ll post a link as soon as she has uploaded it… (click on the ‘street style’ link in the menu)

invisibility cloaks

…could be here sooner than you think, this (military) technology called ‘adaptiv’ allows vehicles to mimic the temperature of their surroundings, what appears to be a car seen through infra-red optics, is in fact a tank…

…the hi-tech camouflage uses hexagonal panels or pixels made of a material that can change temperature very quickly. About 1,000 pixel panels, each of which is 14cm across, are needed to cover a small tank. The panels are driven by on-board thermal cameras that constantly image the ambient temperature of the tank’s surroundings. This is projected on to the panels to make it harder to spot. The cameras can also work when the tank is moving…
