modern life

..as a joke-teller, I might miss them a little due to their uniqueness. As a human being who likes cool new tech gadgets, screw ‘em…

a graphic novel artist points the finger at steve jobs for making his work more complicated…

human interface

this is fun… it reminds me a lot of roel wouters’ fabulous zzz clip (in terms of the basic idea) although a bit less well done… (via ‘ronnie b’)

tell me that’s not shit

‘the devil makes work for idle hands’ as they say in england… for several years now my friend ‘afke besseling’ has been making a series of naive illustrations which she dubs ‘verveelkunst’ (boredom art) from the poetic to the the absurd it is a series of roughly drawn almost diary like observations, some of which, at least, seem to be autobiographical

the series which are all drawn freehand on a computer using bright colours and coarse random typeface choices, cannot be found online (unless you are friends with her on facebook), she doesn’t appear to have any ulterior motive with the series (it is merely a hobby) and they are not for sale, which only makes me want to own a few even more… ‘hi mum, it’s me, yes i still sleep with my socks on…’

the indecisive moment

…if there is such a thing in photography as a “decisive moment”, the term coined by Henri Cartier-Bresson, then there must also be the opposite – the casual, corner of the eye event. These, almost unnoticed events are what photographer André Thijssen captures…

my mate andré is having a little show at the ‘KK outlet’ in london starting in a fortnight, pop by if you are around… he’s the guy with the funny looking dark framed glasses… oh wait that’s me isn’t it?
