the paper sculptures by jeff nishinaka are worth a mention for their sheer crftsmanship alone… although i must admit that i do find the illustration style a bit too traditional, even old fashioned… but have a look and judge for yourself

update: by chance i just came across another guy with similar work: calvin nicholls

a life in paint

nice ‘life in pictures’ slideshow on the life of enigmatic painter (one of my all-time favourites): the recently deceased lucian freud, i especially like the lower image here by ‘david dawson’; shot with an analogue camera but even on closer inspection it still looks like an oil painting in itself…

a short history of production

…a book printed through a printing chain made of four desktop printers using four different colors and technologies dated from 1880 to 1976. A production process that brings together small scale and large scale production, two sides of the same history…

great little project just in time from french artist ‘xavier antin’ using a stencil duplicator, spirit duplicator, laser printer and an inkjet printer to create a custom ‘cmyk’ printing device (via ‘jarr’)

i came across this amusing looking project on facebook called ‘opera #8’ which recently took place at the ‘kröller müller’ museum near arnhem, involving peepholes in newspapers and audio effects (or perhaps opera music?) it is from local artist ‘willum geerts’: the same guy who made that hilarious dutch national flag, his website doesn’t yet mention the project so i can’t provide any proper information other than the images shown here…
