my good friend ‘andrĂ© thijssen’ recommended this publication ‘amc2’ in the correct assumption that it would appeal to me
the archive of modern conflict is a british publication which concerns itself with curating the vernacular, although i have yet to hold a copy in my hands what i find appealing about these kinds of publications is that seemingly random imagery can often accumulate new and unexpected/unintended meaning when combined in a new way, as one comment on the website puts it neatly: …there is strength in inconsistency…

the magazine has been released (at irregular intervals) four times so far and short extracts can be viewed online, the subject matter and perhaps even the name somehow reminded me of the instititute for concrete matter here in the netherlands

i had the pleasure of meeting hattie newman recently and was a little surprised that i hadn’t come across her work before

one from the archives today: a poster for an exhibition (from 7 years ago) about all kinds of mobile phone art, yes we did steal the ‘playmobil’ logo and no they didn’t sue us…
the poster featured a ‘shotcode’ which was probably one of the first posters to do so, and last… the technology which was a forerunner to QR codes didn’t quite make it, as QR codes also haven’t of course…

some amusing ‘idea doodles’ from art-director david brock, the guy who also created the ‘make something cool every day’ series back in 2009
