lots of kitchen tables, an impressive ‘sake’ collection from ‘milton glaser’ and a rather gloomy view from amsterdam in this collection of places where people do their thing

similarities
there has always been a fine line between homage and copying… still i wouldn’t really want to see something i’d made appear in this online set:
an amusing collection of ‘similarities’, but to be fair some of them are clearly intentional and by now well-known examples of referencing the past… although some of them are also just really awful copies
last week
yet more proof of my theory about the new trend for ‘something everyday’ blog projects (thanks to ‘ronster’ for the link)
lemniscate
the infinity symbol and the figure 8 form the backdrop for a beautiful little black book, barely larger than an iphone, which has just been published this week and i was kindly given a copy at the book launch, last friday
the book is an overview of eight years work from the office of designer paulina matusiak whose mainstay is intricate illustrative posters for all kinds of cultural events and theater productions, the format which at first, seems at odds with the large format of the work depicted actually works very well and does her work justice, there is strong and coherent red thread to be found throughout her entire output
the book can be ordered directly via paulina for a suitably-sized price: 17.50 euros, well worth it…
just send paulina a mail for more info

not sure what i can say about this, except that it’s lack of slick hollywood ‘perfection’ is maybe what makes it charming… an absolutely nuts scene from an indian action film… just watch it yourself
