a really inspired campaign for ‘lego’ by (above average) german ad agency jung von matt featuring some old heroes, the idea is strong enough to be signed off with one simple word: ‘imagine’, see more here

my personal favourite has to be ‘bert & ernie’ (shown here above)

four posters we have just created for the ‘amsterdam music theater’ for their annual ‘open day’ when the building and stages are open to the general public in the city,

this years theme was ‘crafts’ i.e. all of the many talented people who work backstage making costumes, weaving wigs, designing sets and contributing in all kinds of ways to the final performances on stage, but who are often not seen or understood, we decided to portray ‘the hands that do the work’

the pictures were shot by ‘sander van der duin’ and myself… we deliberately chose a different style for the imagery to emphasise the fact that these posters are not intended to communicate a dance/opera performance but a wholly different kind of event

the tiny pacific kingdom of tonga has been in the news this week for sad reasons (their king passed away) what i noticed though, is their strikingly modern flag, which was actually based on the ‘red cross’ flag initially
plus this charming clause in the kingdom’s constitution regarding the flag: …the Flag of Tonga shall never be altered but shall always be the flag of the Kingdom…, ok that’s clear…

…I love type and I think every client should have their own set of unique fonts or at least to consider the option of communicating their message in a different way than their competitors…
a short but interesting online interview with talented type designer henrik kubel
