the field of 3D rendering and illustration is something i don’t know enough about or can really properly judge and appreciate… this project however did catch my eye: in the words of radoxist the makers …a megalomaniac project completed during a period of a year and built for close up viewing…

what a fun idea… a design competition with a difference: the idea behind threadcakes is to choose a random illustration from the well-known crowdsourced t-shirt website threadless and turn it into a cake…
apparently they are having difficulty choosing winners due to the high quality of all entries and the sheer effort people are putting into them, some of them really are amazing

Mathematically speaking, The Internet map is a bi-dimensional presentation of links between websites on the Internet. Every site is a circle on the map, and its size is determined by website traffic, the larger the amount of traffic, the bigger the circle. Users’ switching between websites forms links, and the stronger the link, the closer the websites tend to arrange themselves to each other…
