ever wondered what an atom bomb dropped on your house would look like? wonder no more…

noteworthy news story today: the ‘simon wiesenthal centre’ in germany (renowned nazi-hunters) have launched a poster campaign to trace the very last remaining war criminals still walking around free, the posters have been placed in large cities (berlin, hamburg, cologne) under the header ‘operation last chance’
talented designer (but lousy pool player) ‘jeroen krielaars’ (a.k.a. calango) runs a website containing moving fonts under the name animography, amongst other fun stuff is a new font project called ‘franchise’ for which he approached 110 of his favourite animators, each taking on one or several characters to animate in their own style
the choice of a fixed set of colours ensures that it all binds together and feels like a unified but diverse family, the font can be imported straight into after effects for immediate use… nice work; in fact it is even free to download in exchange for a tweet…

mister jarr geerligs has updated the posters in amsterdam blog, if this is a good barometer of current trends then the graphic/illustration route seems to be more popular than ever right now (as opposed to say photography or more pure type-based stuff) which doesn’t necessarily result in stronger posters in my opinion…
