i visited an exhibition space today with a photographer, with whom i am making plans for an exibition in early 2009, the space looked great and on the way out i came across an original ‘saul bass’ classic poster, what a great piece this is and it still looks fresh, even turned sideways i like it…
talking of road signs, the inimitable ‘david shrigley’ had a show on in london i say ‘had’ because it appears to have finished, shame would have like to see that one…
not really news, but i came across this old new york times article about the renewal of the american road signs… now that is a big job…
i saw a beautiful colour scheme on a poster by the talented ‘rene knip’ in town today (no time to make a pic…)
so i checked his altelier rene knip website again, it’s worth a look if you aren’t familiar with him… he has a very distinct style and his strongest points are colour and of course typography, in my opinion, nice work rene…
whilst doing research for my stamp design project for TNT Post, i came across this series i had lying in a drawer: made to commemorate the ‘world press photo’ winners form 1955 to 2004, the print quality of the sheet is such that despite their diminutive size the pictures retain their evocative power… an amazing series well worth checking out… the design is intended to reflect the newspapers which the imsges were originally intended for… in my opinion they are absolutely beautiful
