little red riding hood

this tuesday afternoon/evening was spent in the studio with ‘erwin olaf’, ballerina ‘marissa lopez’, choreographer ‘ernst meisner’ and author/activist/journalist ‘karin spaink‘ plus her little red ‘canta’ (invalid car) making a new image for the rather special upcoming dutch ballet production the ‘canta ballet’

involving a whole squadron of the little red cars, the ballet will be performed once only on location in a large old gasworks silo… more news soon, it was certainly one of the most unusual shoots we’ve had so far… and fun

congratulations to the winners of the european design awards 2012, once again the dutch are very strongly represented, although i must say that like the past few years i find the level of the winning entries a bit ‘all over the place’ to say the least… there doesn’t seem to be a strong viewpoint on what the best of the best is… personally this is also a reason for me not to enter the competition

chaumont style

the 23rd annual, international chaumont poster festival is being visually represented by this anarchic work by local ‘jean marc ballée’, as the organisers themselves put it:

…the communications, whose role is to foster dialogue, were in themselves a subject of discussion. Their design and publication was a two-way piece of work with Jean-Marc Ballée, and this dialogue laid bare the 2012 Festival project: its gaps and flaws as much as its strengths and its embrace of the event’s established identity…
