dutch photographer ‘krista van der niet’ and furniture designer ‘caroline ziegler’ are teaming up for a show at the amusingly named coming soon gallery in paris, from sept the 30th till mid nov, i quite like the idea of shows with different disciplines together like this, an interesting development…
my personal track record for winning pitches is pretty terrible, so it’s with some surprise that i have just won my first one ever: the recently revamped amsterdam music theater (HMA) have commissioned me to make a new outdoor campaign (posters) and various collateral for the coming season, the first work should be ready later this autumn… congrats to me :)
the new logo and identity was made by ‘koeweiden postma’ last year and the new website early this year by ‘fabrique’

…mevis is adamant, however, that being asked to work on this project has absolutely nothing to do with the controversy surrounding the Stedelijk’s graphic identity “This is simply a project,” he says. “We were never approached to create the identity of the whole museum. People seem to think that, but it is not true. We were told from the start that this was just for the temporary opening and was not a commission to do anything for the future.”…
it seems to have become a highly controversial subject the new ‘stedelijk’ identity, although there are worse choices for the job than ‘mevis & van deursen’ or even ‘experimental jetset’ who made their previous temporary identity in the old ‘Post CS’ building, we shall see who finally gets the commission
a very impressive typography orientated portfolio from this berlin-based designer, who also worked for mister ‘sagmeister’ and whose influence can definitely be seen in her work
