…each portrait consist of more than fifty different images. The various expressions blend in to perhaps one true self. What they know is what you know, by looking at them….

an interesting new series of multiple portraits by local photographer katrien franken, the effect is very similar to a series shot by german photographer michael wesely when shooting a whole class of school children using multiple exposures on one sheet of film, the heads in his shots also tended to morph into one generic face… much like this but then composed of something like 30 different children (see below)

update sept 1st: many thanks to photographer ‘jacques verschuren for pointing out an error: the pictures, it appears are not colour at all, the originals were black & white glass negatives which have been digitally ‘colour printed’ by the american library of congress
