visual storytelling
during the latest edition of the graphic design festival i have been asked to do a lecture (on thursday the 20th of sept.) about my design practice and this year’s theme: visual storytelling
amongst those also doing lectures alongside me are: ‘trapped in suburbia’, ‘sean freeman’ (UK), ‘peter orntoft’ (DK), ‘gorilla’, ‘autobahn’, ‘father futherback’ and ‘snask’ (SE)… all lectures will be given in english, now i just have to think of something / anything at all interesting to say… oops, coud be difficult
miep jukkema
some upsetting news reached me last night: well-respected photographer miep jukkema had a brain hemorrhage travelling back from paris a while ago and has sadly passed away this week… she was a sweet lady and will be much missed

tin can, tin cannot
sad news this week: the dutch government in all of their wisdom (not) have decided to kill the ‘theater institute’, even a planned relaunch as a museum and financial constructions that would involve using accumulated assets have been blocked, so it’s goodbye tin
the collection will not be kept together and hundreds of years of invaluable material is now in danger of disappearing, the ‘dutch theater poster awards’ for which i have been nominated several times and been actively involved in for several years now will of course also never take place again… another one bites the dust
best client award 2012
congratulations to my longest (11 years so far) serving client ever: the dutch national ballet, who have just been nominated for the best client award at this years dutch design awards, with heineken and schiphol airport amongst the nominees, the competition will be pretty stiff, still nice that they have been recognised in this way… and good luck guys!
