pins and needles

ever the perfectionist… hansje contacted me regarding the article i wrote earlier today, i described her new hobby as ‘crochet’ which involves small curved needles (if i remember correctly from school art lessons) what she is learning… is in fact embroidery (or lace embroidery) using a series of cotton bobbins, unless i have got it wrong again :), does anybody know if that is the right term? by the way those chunky arms pictured are not hansje’s…
oops i just checked, wrong again, the correct term would appear to be ‘lace-making’ or rather ‘bobbin lace‘, embroidery is another thing altogether… phew…
TD

quality design publishing house ‘unit editions’ are due to release a new title: TD 63-73 which according to the blurb is
…the story of Total Design’s golden period. It contains hundreds of images from the TD archive, and in Ben Bos’s text the reader is given an ‘up close and personal’ history of a design group that remains as important today as it did when it launched in the icy winter of 1963…

i must admit that i often find some of the hero worshiping of the old TD a bit over the top, but this book does look really good and sounds like a serious overview, so my copy is already on pre-order
