following on from my recent post, here is a huge flickr collection of amsterdam gable stones, some very, very old… others less so, enjoy
it was recently explained to me that these stones were traditionally painted using a layered technique called ‘polychroming’ which takes into account the fact that the stones ‘weather’ and the colour (paint) slowly fades in a specific way…
