superjews

superjews_poster_nov13

israeli artist ‘nirit peled’ made the documentary film ‘superjews’ examining the link between amsterdam football club ‘ajax’, the david star and the jewish identity, a film about symbolism, football, identity and belonging

she asked me to make the poster and after a week spent trying various ideas with photos etc. we finally came back to my initial, instinctive sketch idea, very happy with this one

superjews_poster_print1

the film is airing at the IDFA film festival which started yesterday in amsterdam; the posters arrived back from the printers just on time… this is the closest you will ever get to seeing me in a football shirt

here is a trailer for the film with english subtitles

tales you lose

andre_levy_coins2

andre_levy_coins1

brazilian artist andre levy turns coins into superheros and villains

andre_levy_coins3

p.s.: although i think the correct term is ‘tails you lose’ and not tales

bear & hare

this is probably the last blog on the planet to post about the amazing christmas commercial for ‘john lewis’ (made by adam & eve DDB) which went viral last week…. but i still wanted to post it just because the ‘making of’ film (above) is worth a watch, a labour of love made with a crew (& possibly budget) to match any hollywood production; but still beautifully done, see the final thing below…

long shadows

ios7_shadow

i am not usually tempted to partake in the ‘is iOS7 ugly?’ discussion, as i find it wholly uninteresting and irrelevant

ios7_shadow_2

however this proposal for a long shadow version does appeal to me, it indeed seems to make it more user-friendly and easy to decipher somehow… and yes perhaps a little ‘less ugly’
