rhythm & color

amongst the many talented creative people all around me in the ‘duintjer cs’ building where my office is currently situated, is mister ‘erik hoogendorp’ former partner / founder of design agency 178 aardige ontwerpers in amsterdam

since a year or so he has decided to go solo and get back to his roots, a move which i very much empathise with… his work varies from motion stuff like this wonderful experiment in stop-motion (using kids yoghurt pots) to highly crafted books and corporate identities, see more for yourself right here at jihaa, what it all has in common is a high level of quality and a real sense of fun…

100 years of graphic delight

the museum hilversum which, oddly enough is situated in hilversum, has just launched a new exhibition on the golden era of dutch design (yes yet another one), fortunately the dutch penchant for graphic design nostalgia has been balanced out with new work by some of the better names around at the moment: featuring amongst others:

(old then new) Wim Crouwel, Dick Bruna, Otto Treumann, Mart Kempers en Dick Elffers, Hansje van Halem, René Knip, Harmen Liemburg, Michiel Schuurman, Job Wouters and Richard Niessen

here is the fontanel family all together (well almost a few were missing) caught at ‘the ship of fools gallery’ two weeks ago, from left to right lisanne, thomas, erik, willem, mirte, sanne and a funny looking old tramp who nobody seemed to know…

money makes happy

it feels a bit strange offering financial help to one of the (probably) best-paid graphic designers around, nontheless i really want to see the finished result… so along with quite a lot of other people i helped ‘stefan sagmeister’ find the funding for his ‘happy’ film, which is due for release next february…

the all-seeing eye

a look-back at the iconic CBS ‘eye’ logo, funny how it seems to have actually got worse, like many old 50s-60s logos that are restyled these days…
