this week, i finally managed to attend the live drawing classes entitled hollands next modeltekenen regularly hosted by artist willum geerts
the idea being that you get to draw nude models but then combined with audio, music, light effects and projections, the sessions are orchestrated by willum and are timed to make the participants react in different ways to what they perceive
it was fun to take part in and here are some of my first efforts (i decided to use my ipad instead of paper)
two really nice links up today, firstly: a large collection of twelve, seminal bauhaus books available for download in hi-res format (tip via experimental jestset)
secondly a wonderful 500+ page book by willard c brinton dating back to 1939 and called graphic presentation with some beautiful old infographics and much basic visual theory which is still relevant today, also available to download as a hi-res pdf right here (tip via fast co)
spotted around town: a poster for the 2015 dutch design week event, the design has (most probably unintentionally) to my mind, a very mid-90’s retro design feel to it… it looks like the kind of work that being made by such groups as ’emigrĂ©’ and ‘8vo’ way back then (no idea who made it)
update: jeroen van erp just contacted me to say the poster and accompanying website were created by fabrique
this is an oddly satisfying and nicely executed little tumblr collection: matching everyday objects to PMS colour swatches
also on instagram but the collection has been temporarliy put on hold as a book is in the make…
