i’ve just had a better look through the magazine cover archive which contains some fabulous work and has a nice range of styles covering the various eras in which the magazines were published, worth a visit…
gold leaf, push pins & string
i was back in the photostudio yesterday with my good friend ‘ruud baan’ shooting two new images (in one day) for the dutch national ballet, a busy day, too warm too little time but plenty of fun…
the two new productions are ‘sleeping beauty’ and a triple bill ‘strong voices’, the sleeping beauty one we decided to translate into an over-the-top almost kitsch, abstract gold sun to depict the moment she awakes and for strong voices the idea was to create a sound wave pattern (inspired by the image below) but then in real life
i created a maze pattern out string in the studio limbo and painted the top & bottom sections on the string black to create a graphic wave form with the remaining white string sections, a very ambitious plan which required a lot more time than was available yesterday, the dancer we worked with ‘matthew golding’ was great and we are very pleased with the result, more news soon…
