me news

it’s a hoax

one of the teams who are also doing a talk at the HKU seminar on ‘self confidence’ i have been invited to on monday is ‘hoax’ a young start-up by three students from the art-school whom i taught barely a year ago… they have created a pretty smart-looking portfolio in a very short space of time, taking an apparent focus on typography-based work with a really nice ornamental/graphic touch to it, like this poster (shown above) which i really like

talk about self-confidence… i would never have had the guts to start for myself straight out of art school, students take note: it can be done… looking forward to hearing their experiences so far

clap clap

nice little print ad from ‘euro/rscg’ paris, to celebrate the medals won by athletes in 2010
the text reads: ‘to applaud the 22 athletes of Team EDF for their performance in 2010, close and reopen these two pages several times very quickly’

…which seems a shame to me, surely it is obvious what the idea is and explaining it only weakens the effect?

i made a similar idea with hands back in 2008, on the cover of this brandbook for new recruiter maandag, at least it kind of reminds me of it a bit, the book had two covers: positive & negative (thumbs up & down)

2016

controversy never seems to be far away when it comes to olympic identities, but it seems that it has never been any different even with the old classics

this is a topic that i mention for several reasons, apart from a personal and professional interest, it is also at the core of our theme for the upcoming edition of ‘mind the gap’ which i posted about earlier last week… keep you posted

since 1873

fabulous ad by two old colleagues of mine for that dutch beer brand (ivar van den hove & bert kerkhof @ tbwa), the text reads ‘heineken, social networking since 1873’, see a larger version also here, very nice indeed…
