an interest for the common

this beautifully made and well researched book by finnish designer ’emmi salonen’ arrived in the studio this week: common interest: documents which (to lazily quote from the blurb text) …explores document design in the fields of arts, culture, academia, public sector an charities. Displayed, handed out or sold in art galleries, cultural events and other public places, these designs are shared by the general public. Without big corporate budgets, close to a hundred case studies show resourceful and creative design solutions, which improve their conveyed message. Focusing on considered environmental solutions and unique production and finishing techniques, each study list print and paper choices, together with details on finishing…

i was invited to contribute several projects but they didn’t make it to the final selection apparently, not good enough i guess, oh well…

pole dance

i try to avoid putting commercials on the blog that are clearly intended to be posted around the net as ‘virals’, especially if they promote cars and that kind of junk

however this one was directed by my best mate ‘steve hudson’ which makes it a different situation, you make me proud mate :) plus i enjoyed the amusing comment someone posted on you tube: ‘i pulled down a flag pole once with my honda civic’ now that is very impressive…

…representation of a black horse

what a great title for a piece of art that is… and the work itself (a sculpture) is equally as good, made by mister ‘fons schiedon’ and 3D printed from synthetic material (many thanks to ‘marcel kampman’ for pointing me towards this one, for several reasons)

i’ve worked with prima ballerina ‘igone de jongh’ for almost ten years now in photo studios and yet photographer ‘krijn van noordwijk’ managed to surprise me with this simple portrait of her he just made for the ‘nrc’ newspaper
