as boss of columbia records ‘mike smith’ had unique access to many famous musicians during the past two decades, he made a collection of simple sketches of them on and off stage which are currently on show in london

the series is due to be released later this year in book form and several more of them can also be seen here

the paper sculptures by jeff nishinaka are worth a mention for their sheer crftsmanship alone… although i must admit that i do find the illustration style a bit too traditional, even old fashioned… but have a look and judge for yourself

nice ‘life in pictures’ slideshow on the life of enigmatic painter (one of my all-time favourites): the recently deceased lucian freud, i especially like the lower image here by ‘david dawson’; shot with an analogue camera but even on closer inspection it still looks like an oil painting in itself…
