according to nancy skolos, graphic designer in this little quicktime film talking of being busy… early this week i met dutch graphic designer and teacher ‘melle hammer’ who is one of the people responsible for ‘design inquiry’ that’s run on an island off the coast of maine in the US each year, the film gives an impression of the place and the idea, sounds bloody fantastic… no cell phones or internet, lots of sun and plenty of talk…
things are very very busy at the moment and it’s becoming difficult to post as often as i would like to, like this guy who has added the word ‘almost’ to his blog title
the dutch art director’s club 2007 annual was made by ad agency ‘selmore’ last year and it finally arrived in the post today
they asked several designers to contribute by making a design on the the theme of merchandising, this was my piece, it’s a pastiche of a duvet & pillow set for kid’s pop idol band ‘K3’, but featuring a well known award-winning advertising team
the idea was a bit clichéd and the resulting book is too, to be frank… somewhere between the photography and printing the bed changed from brown to white… odd
just added the new ‘in space’ poster for the dutch national ballet to ‘me work’
the whole team is very pleased with this one, let’s hope the public are too… in case you were wondering: we didn’t ‘shop’ this one together, it’s all real, the only corrections were colour and minor set details, the jump, the reflections and the backdrop were all actually shot in camera
the organisation behind atelier tipografic organised a modest event at the premsela institute this evening to present a publication which they made to mark the exhibition in bucharest late last year, amongst the guests was the very friendly ‘dinu dumbravician’ who took care of the presentation at his school in romania and travelled all the way to amsterdam to meet the designers and students, sadly a large number of the designers who took part didn’t bother to come along… shame because they put a lot of effort into it and were looking forward to meeting everybody, the organisation were kind enough to provide digital copies of all of the presentations to the participants too, thanks very much from me…
