nice label, shame about the wine

this wine label uses the ‘seethru label trick’ very effectively, the grape image is printed on the reverse label and is viewed through the bottle (acting as a magnifying glass) which gives it a fairly convincing ‘3d’ effect… ok it looks crap in my picture but it did look quite good in real life, honest…

project vitra #2

last week i finally got a copy of the ‘vitra project’ book featuring pictures from (amongst others) my friend maurice scheltens, the book was designed by swiss designer ‘cornel windlin’ better known, to me at least, as a poster designer… ‘project vitra’ features a mass of new material including a lot of previously unpublished archive images and is a fascinating read… with behind the scene stories and a fabulous mix of imagery from archive pictures to ‘homage’ ones and has been really well produced/printed by publishing house ‘birkhäuser’

as one resumé put it: "a coffee-table book for the discerning owners of iconic coffee tables"… um… well that isn’t necessarily a compliment i suppose, but trust me: cynicism aside; it’s worth a look…. featuring writing by Deyan Sudjic, Luis Fernández-Galiano, Alex Coles, Alexander von Vegesack, Mathias Remmele and ‘vitra’ chairman Rolf Fehlbaum.

the book is, i guess, mainly aimed at graphic designers, interior designers, product designers, vitra addicts and architects

there was a humble shoemaker…

beautifully executed little piece of animation for adidas i believe the expensive term often used for this type of work is ‘corporate storytelling’
