ishiuchi miyako

i’d never heard of this lady’s work, but it looks interesting and is now on show at foam in amsterdam, i’ll definitely be going to see it…

this is from the ‘foam’ site: …the first European retrospective of Japanese photographer Miyako Ishiuchi (b. 1947). While the artist brought attention to herself at Biennial 2005 in Venice with her collection Mother?s, the remainder of her work had not yet been presented collectively in Europe.

bunker art

i just came across this unusual dutch site that is a very detailed and exhaustive document of the ‘art’, typography and drawings left behind in the german bunkers scattered all along the coast of northern europe

the site navigation is very messy but it’s worth a look around… if you find this kind of stuff interesting that is

oops i nearly forgot to provide the link

frenzy

nice answer from ‘jon gray’ a.k.a. gray 318, one of the best book cover designers of the moment in this little interview

interviewer: Can you describe your brainstorming/concepting process?

gray: It starts off as a deep meditative stance and then, as the deadline comes and goes, dissolves into a war-room frenzy.
