i spent part of the afternoon violating copyrights whilst designing a spread for a magazine article, my friend ‘ingmar’ has been asked to make a piece about strategy & marketing (and all that stuff) he asked me to take care of the layout, here’s a sneak preview… it will be published in two weeks time, i think
it’s been a bit quiet on the blog this weekend, i was in utrecht attending several new film premieres, including ‘vox populi’ a black comedy about the state of politics in the netherlands, which was attended by several highly placed politicians and important ‘bigwigs’ the second film was ‘calimucho’ which was even better on the big screen than the advance copy i had already seen… well worth going to see
i’m back in utrecht on wednesday for the ‘cinema poster prize award’ ceremony…
i am currently working on a corporate identity for new film production company ‘get across’ the website features full frame moving backgrounds which are going to look really good, if all goes well… it is so far…
if you happen to be in berlin this saturday, the dutch designers involved in the ‘b.a.s.’ project are giving a presentation (and probably serving beer) for their rather mysterious project
‘henrik kubel’ is a name i know, i once tried (without success) to contact him about a typeface he designed for martin venezsky’s wonderful (now defunct) magazine ‘speak’
it turns out that he runs a studio, in london, together with ‘scott williams under the moniker ‘a2/sw/hk’ and they are very talented providers of ‘design and bespoke typefaces’ ranging from beer bottles to stamps, to posters and lots and lots of book covers
the site is also very well done, unfussy and clear, have a look here
