enjoy the weird and singular world of vernacular from indian-canadian artist gary taxali

i am currently reading the book shown below: bruno munari’s ‘design as art’ which is one of five all-time design classics that have been re-released by penguin as a series with some very strong minimal covers, great stuff…

the ‘designpolitie’ have finally released their own book with some concise articles and insights into their world (even the contents of their bookcase if you’re interested) and a well designed and tightly edited overview of their design achievments so far… i’m a big fan so it’s not wasted on me and it is one of the better ‘ego documents’ by dutch agencies i’ve seen in a while

some very wacky furniture from this dutch firm with an amusing name, the stool has a cushion made of folded magazines and the bookcase, well it doesn’t make sense, which does make sense to me…

this penguin website offers some interesting ideas about how ‘digital fiction’ could work (using twitter, google maps etc…) all very well done, although my favourite is probably the most conventional one: ‘hard times’ designed by ‘nicholas felton’ the man behind the wonderful ‘feltron’ annual reports (detailing his own life and consumption patterns)
