here’s a little film (well sort of film..) by photographer ‘nick knight’ getting very wound up about racism in the fashion industry, you could also replace the word ‘fashion’ with ‘advertising’ or a number of other words actually… yes even design, how often does the ‘white’ design world represent any other race than the one the designers themselves belong to?
it was an early start this morning, out of town shooting a ballet dancer (moises from spain) under water with ruud baan, the result looked fabulous (if you ask me) and we’ve been waiting to do this shot for years now together… the whole shoot took less than two hours which was a surprise…
the production is called ‘nieuwlichters’ with choreography by young dancers and the water seemed an appropriate metaphor for a fresh start
