i got an email form ‘pj’ at design agency VBAT today, apparently the ‘no god’ poster i saw is part of, not just a local, but an international campaign for atheism.. how odd, surely when you try to sell atheism it becomes a religion like any other but that’s besides the point… they also don’t seem to be sure whether the word ‘probably’ is necessary or not, surely if you really want to sell it to people then you should sound really convinced of what you believe, not just maybe…

i just spoke to syb whose photobook ‘mist’ for photographer niels stomps has been awarded the kees scheerer prize for the best photography book, congratulations to both… although the prize money is for the photographer (not the designer) syb doesn’t even seem to get a mention on the website, strange…

sometimes a book in a shop just jumps out and grabs your attention, demands to be looked at, at least that happens to me, sometimes… and on many of those occasions i then discover that the same designer: ‘irma boom’ was responsible
like her fabulous latest book ‘every thing design’ containing some 700 objects from the enormous collection of the swiss design museum, irma has made some very extravagant books with limitless budgets and innovative production ideas but even for a ‘regular’ book made for mass-production like this one, she still effortlessly knows how to make it feel like a ‘special edition’ book, i just had to buy it… a ‘hebbeding’ as the dutch say…
