spotted around town this week: nice poster for the punk exhibition at the ‘centraal museum’ in utrecht (by lesley moore)

four posters we have just created for the ‘amsterdam music theater’ for their annual ‘open day’ when the building and stages are open to the general public in the city,

this years theme was ‘crafts’ i.e. all of the many talented people who work backstage making costumes, weaving wigs, designing sets and contributing in all kinds of ways to the final performances on stage, but who are often not seen or understood, we decided to portray ‘the hands that do the work’

the pictures were shot by ‘sander van der duin’ and myself… we deliberately chose a different style for the imagery to emphasise the fact that these posters are not intended to communicate a dance/opera performance but a wholly different kind of event

here are the first items for our newly created identity for the ‘sugar factory’ nightclub in amsterdam, the club turns seven in april and we used this occasion as a suitable launch moment

the identity centres around a simple logotype a custom drawn typeface we made and a grid system for posters and other communication collateral (online etc) the aim is to pull the ‘whole’ together in a coherent and flexible way without making it monotonous or ‘corporate’, more stuff to follow soon… these posters should be hanging around town within the coming days

the unmistakable signature of designer ‘herman van bostelen’ spotted around town last night… i am a fan
