a happy client sent me this picture yesterday, the latest metropole orkest poster for the laura mvula show in local pop temple paradiso (late november) just back from the printers, looking forward to seeing it for ‘real’, it would seem that laura herself and her fans are enthusiastic too
…i find repetitive work soothing, it calms me down and allows me some time to think about other things while being productive at the same time. I like the tension between systematic approach, legibility and (ir)regularity. I find it equally interesting to only draw the textures and end up with patterns…

this poster for the stedelijk museum (mevis & van deursen) keeps catching my eye around town, it is not something i would call beautiful or that i find aesthetically pleasing, quite the opposite in fact; and yet… yet, it works very well indeed, it has impact not despite of – but perhaps thanks to its rather crude almost ‘powerpoint-like’ design
