me news

east meets west

i was back in the studio with ‘ruud baan’ on friday for the latest poster shoot: ‘à la russe’ for the dutch national ballet, this time with three dancers: igone (from the netherlands), anna (from russia) and casey (from the states)

despite the obvious difficulties in shooting and choreographing three dancers at once for a photo, the session went very smoothly and we will be working on this particular poster in the coming weeks… more news soon

Jeanne van Heeswijk’s project explores a range of personal approaches to waste through a series of short, insightful stories from residents in the rural centre of Goulburn and Liverpool in Western Sydney. Adopting a reality fiction approach, the 25 mini video clips reveal a range of unique approaches and often strongly held views on concepts of waste, personal behaviour and responsibility in a climate of consumerism, recycling and growing concern for the environment.

an interesting portfolio of letters and numbers from new-york designer ‘steve rura’, the pre-loader on his site is also really nice…

and action…

i finally got everything ready for the test shoot today (btw: out of office all day) and finally found a use for those light pink nespresso coffee capsules that taste like cat piss: little feet to raise the pin cushion off the table… best idea i have had all week

minotaur

graphic designer ‘vaughan oliver’ was one of the people who inspired me to become a designer myself, he has been the face of 4AD records from the start for more than 20 years and was in fact their very first employee… vaughan was recently commissioned to make a definitive box-set of all of the pixies oeuvre (which he did together with some of his students from the RCA) and the result can be seen (not very clearly) here below

the whole looks very ‘4AD’ but somehow almost perhaps a parody of his own work, it all looks a bit too much and it is what i expected it to look like, which is a shame… he also collaborated with long-standing partner photographer ‘simon larbelestier’
