a book about the basic disciplines in graphic design. The first volume in the series is about logos… contents are classified by the type of entity – arts & culture, business services, retail, lifestyle and manufacturing…

a new book on corporate identity & logo design entitled basic identity featuring several ‘me’ projects has been released by ‘index books’ in barcelona this week, i haven’t received a copy yet so can’t remember which of my projects are in there unfortunately…

graphics are super

note: the post frequency on the ‘me blog’ has taken a nosedive this week (plus my entries to ‘fontanel’) due to a seriously heavy workload, so apologies to the daily visitors, it may be a bit quieter than usual in the coming days for the same reason… meanwhile here’s an interesting new book: supergraphics from quality design publishers ‘unit’ in london

… niches of architects and designers began experimenting with Supergraphics to emulate the spatial effects of architecture. These designers distorted perspective with stripes and arrows, emphasized wayfinding and movement sequences with surface designs, joined community groups to paint illustrative graphics over blighted buildings, and played with scale by using billboarding tactics…

new covers

one of the nice things about the ‘façade’ book project is that there are new covers being made as the billboards are being dismantled each week…

for example this week: two of my favourites which have been cut up and recycled into book covers, producing some nice ‘random’ cover designs as show here

the two billboards featured are the one from ‘richard niessen’ and one from ‘hans aarsman & erik kessels’ (shown above with the large dots)
