this story ‘sounds’ fascinating, although the pictures are really difficult to judge online…

?Few will be acquainted with the mammoth, inert and indestructible concrete thing (for lack of a better word) weighing 12,650,000 kilograms and located in Berlin?s Tempelhof district, despite it being registered as a historical landmark since 1995. Susanne Kriemann?s 12 650 000 addresses this ?Schwerbelastungskörper? (heavy-load-testing structure) built in 1941 as part of Albert Speer?s plan for Berlin as ?World Capital Germania? and in order to assess the weight-bearing capacity of the city?s sandy ground.?
many thanks to ‘antoine achten’ (avid photobook collector) for the tip

the HKU sent me some images from the ‘diploma ceremony’ last friday, here’s ‘sander plug’ telling his favourite joke to one of the students, who managed a polite smile in return… note that fellow teachers ‘arthur herman’ and ‘hansje van halem’ definitely were not smiling, neither were ‘hans gremmen’ and i (both out of the frame here) we were just wondering why the teachers were on the stage instead of the students… once again congratulations to all involved…

here’s a free font up for grabs, not sure how good it is because i haven’t nabbed it yet myself…

this extraordinary swiss archive not only documents this chronology of photography (in book covers) but also documents the history of design at the same time
