i was lucky enought to find a cheap (shop-soiled) copy of philip lorca dicorcia’s book ‘thousand’ today, an incredibly thick compilation book, printed on ultra-thin parchment paper containing one thousand polaroids, made throughout his career…

Something interesting happens when these intimately scaled pictures are viewed in succession: as our eyes follow the centerline of diCorcia?s horizontal span of images, we are hypnotized by the continuity and disruption of the sequence, in the same way that a photo flipbook aspires to the speed of the film reel.

following from the latest images from dance group ‘ndt’ (see earlier post) shot by erwin olaf… i was reminded of these pictures shot by ‘niels stomps’ a few years ago for dance festival ‘juli dans’, the difference being that this series was meant to be more ambiguous as to whether they were dancers at first glance… the campaign was devised and designed by mister ‘syb’

young designer ‘christien meindertsma’ who cleared up at last year’s ‘dutch design awards’ has received a prize from the danish index awards for designs that ‘improve life’ the award comes with a staggering 100 000 euros prize money, wow well done… you can buy quite a few pigs for that much cash…
