mister ‘syb’ who recently collected the theater poster award (and a pile of cash) has updated his website with some ‘old new’ and ‘new new’ work, like these very uncompromising posters, consisting of almost only white space and some very disonant and cheerful type at the top, i like the idea but find the execution somehow too… well uncompromising and empty…

interesting project from recent ‘design academy’ graduate martin van de beek, a system of led banners built into the ground on railway platforms (or any other public space for that matter) the site is pretty difficult to navigate, you should find it under the heading ‘spaces’
amusing side-project from busy man ‘ewoudt boonstra’ (see earlier post today) who decided to make some desktop pictures, not the computer kind, the analogue sort… so here is his collection of pictures of desktops with contributions from a number of image makers and friends…
Miller?s program of donor signage is also uniquely integrated with the architecture. The lobby of the new building is a soaring sky-lit atrium that rises up nine stories through the building?s core and is dominated by staircases. A dramatic installation recognizing major donors animates the underside of a descending stairwell, the signage comprised of over 80 ?blades? that cascade down the underside of the stairs, echoing the stairs? downward motion. The typography is engraved on the front, bottom and reverse surface of each blade.
