here are two designers with a strong and impressive portfolio of poster designs:
german designer uwe loesch shown here above and below
and swiss designer pierre neumann (shown below), both clearly from a similar background and a similar approach (or aesthetic sensibility) to design
i find it also interesting to note that both have also made corporate design work that is to my eyes much weaker than the poster work…

for a book project i worked on late last year i got hold of a large collection of old paper bags from dutch warehouse ‘HEMA’, which show a really interesting evolution in design from the kind of shapes and colours that were in fashion at certain times, but also logos…
i have placed them in (what i think) is the correct order from oldest to newest, this is the whole series…
i was back in the studio earlier today with photographer / illustrator ‘ingrid baars’ who is shooting & making the latest new season poster image for the dutch national ballet, featuring dancers ‘michele jimenez’ from the US (pictured here) & czech ‘jozef varga’, the image will be in production during the coming week and will feature some ‘mini’ dancers… more news soon

interesting-looking new book from mister rankin, the image below reminds me very much of some older fashion work by ‘nick knight’…
