the surge of loud, new architecture (such as the recently opened hi-tech ‘eye’ film museum) fed by a hunger for space to expand; plus the imminent arrival of a new hi-speed underground line will no doubt alter the character of amsterdam ‘noord’ (a largely forgotten working-class northern district) forever…
an impoverished urban sprawl on the verge of radical change, something which photographer ‘maaike koning’ has been documenting for some time… together with my friend designer ‘pepijn rooijens’ she has made a book to complete the project and via ‘voordekunst’ (a dutch – strictly arts related – version of kickstarter) they are appealing for funds to make their project aan de overkant a reality…
